BEYOND WORK:
Lisa Sloan,
Family Enthusiast
The real Lisa, beyond work as an E.I. PT...
I'm a proud mother of 2 wonderful adults, grandmomma to 2 littles, age 3.5 and 1.5, and a part-time professional nanny to sweet little ones under the age of 2. My faith guides my daily walk and gives me hope in the challenges life brings. As a scientist, I love how the brain is such a sponge at this age and seeing all the learning come together to make active, creative and thriving children. My pasttimes are the theater, music, outdoors, traveling, baking, and sewing. Favorite days are spent doing those things with my family! My heart is to help you get a great start in doing all that you dream of doing with your family too!
MY APPROACH
Empowering Parents to Help Their Baby
I've always wanted to be a physical therapist and worked with all ages and populations, but the investment in children and involvement in empowering their parents has been a huge blessing throughout most of my life. From that lens, I've watched the heartache that can come from wondering if your child will every crawl or walk or talk. My early intervention work taught me that the caregivers can make so much difference in learning these skills with simple strategies anyone can do if shown how. I began to believe it was better to offer a way for parents to be proactive in building the necessary skills in their infants from the start, rather than wait until they are delayed and try to catch up. There are foundations of movement that God already designed into our developing nervous systems to happen sequentially from day 1. These can be fostered through their play and daily routines, with the safe encouragement of those that love them. When you're learning a new skill, it's more supportive to learn from someone who has already been successful in the same thing and it's more fun to do it alongside others who are learning the same thing! My vision was thus born -- Guidance and support to empower parents to enjoy playing with their kids in ways that proactively build the essential developmental building blocks for mastery of each motor milestone!

Disclaimer: While mentor is an actively-licensed PT, these workshops are an educational workshop only, taught from an informed perspective, and are NOT structured as, or to be deemed as, medical care in the form of group physical therapy sessions. Cost and curriculum is set accordingly. If skilled physical therapy is needed, a proper referral from your pediatrician should be obtained.
